DAY 81: Muay Thai inner thigh sweep from clinch

Today’s Muay Thai class was split according to different prajioud levels. As such, I didn’t manage to pair up with Daniel and worked on very different techniques. Today, we worked on the inner thigh sweep while doing a clinch. Coach Darren makes this move looks easy but I am having a lot of trouble just coordinating my body. I never have a knack for doing throws and sweeps.

We spent quite a lot of time getting used to the movement and the techniques before moving on with the combinations on the thai pads. The combination actions are quite simple but I am quite slow in doing the inner thigh sweep. What killed me was the conditioning drills after every round

Here’s what we did today:

Round 1
Combination: Jab, Low left roundhouse to inner thigh, Cross, Left hook, Right roundhouse, Clinch, Inner thigh sweep, diagonal knee X2, right elbow
Conditioning drill: 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse, 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse

Round 2
Combination: Jab, Low left roundhouse to inner thigh, Cross, Left hook, Right roundhouse, Clinch, Inner thigh sweep, diagonal knee X2, right elbow
Conditioning drill: 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse, 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse

Round 3
Combination: Jab, Low left roundhouse to inner thigh, Cross, Left hook, Right roundhouse, Clinch, Inner thigh sweep, diagonal knee X2, right elbow
Conditioning drill: 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse, 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse

Round 4
Pad man calls out technique and partner throw the technique with full power 3min
Conditioning drill: 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse, 50 punches, 10 left roundhouse, 10 right roundhouse

Round 5
200 crunches

After class, I could feel my back aching. It’s probably due to the strength training I did yesterday and the Muay Thai was fatigued the muscles even more. Nonetheless, it was an awesome training knowing that you have given your best.
