Back at Taekwondo today and we did loads of core and leg exercises. Im sure my core and legs are gonna hurt real bad the next morning.
We started off class with some light warm up and stretching before heading to do some basic kicks.
Basic kicks, 10 each leg
Front kick
High front kick
Slamming kick
Inside cresent kick
Slamming kick
Side kick
After that, coach split us up into two groups, the black belts and the rest.
We did a lot of holding leg kicks. First exercise, we are to grab on to the balancing beam and do side kicks. Our legs are not allowed to be let down after kicking but have to return to the chambered position.
We then did some stretching for our front kicks and practiced poomsae style basics kicks.
After which, we proceeded to holding leg kicks again. This time round, we need to do three kicks and return to the chambered position. Our legs are not allowed to touch the ground the whole time. This really trained our core muscles!
Combination 1: side kick, roundhouse, hook kick, return to chambered position
Combination 2: Front kick, slamming kick
Ended off the class with some sparring
My sparring skills have deteriorated. But that was expected as I was training Muay Thai so much nowadays. As much, I wasn’t very good with my footwork and was too stationary. It was good fun sparring again though. Most importantly, I did not get injured! 😛
